Misty Copeland Portrait

Misty Copeland, principal dancer with American Ballet Theater. She didn't discover ballet till she was 13 years old, when she took a class at her local Boys & Girls club. She had so much natural ability that she was dancing en pointe in three months (something that normally takes years to achieve). Her figure and skin color were not traditional either, but she didn't let any of that stop her, and in 2015 she became ABT's first African-American principal dancer. - Liz Langley
