Oakland knitter and seamstress Tammy George is the real, live punk rock gal behind her indie business PuNk rAwK pUrL! Inspired by the color palette of traditional Loteria cards and their bold images, her paper-appliqued notecards are a fabulous addition to Modern Mouse’s selection. Tammy delights in choosing the perfect colors of thread to accompany her designs; having attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, she’s a total pro. Her blog is also a total treat to browse for lots more color inspiration and fun!

The PuNk rAwK pUrL Story:
I have been a crafty gal my entire life.   A few years ago I started selling my colorful wares at small street fairs & craft shows and received heaps of inspiration & encouragement to grow my goodies into a business.  I opened the doors to my Etsy shop last October at the persistent urging of my dear friends & my cat, Rosco P. Coltrane.  So far, 2011 has brought some major changes and as a now-happy circumstance, I am able to devote myself full-time to my sweet little business.

In my other life…
In the last 20 years, I have managed a vintage toy shop, an indie coffee house, a Trader Joe’s, an upscale house wares boutique, and was a buyer for the clothing/general merchandise department of a Harley Davidson dealership.

Did you know?
My obsession with sewing into paper began when I was just a kid.  I used to tear photos out of magazines, phone books, cookbooks, etc & use my mom’s sewing machine to sew them onto pieces of cardboard I had torn from cereal boxes.  (I was crafting in an Eco-friendly fashion long before it was fashionable).

I’ve also been known to answer to…
In the knitting world I have become known as PuNk rAwK pUrL. It was the name given to my blog that I started about 6 years ago (shortly after I first learned to knit).
