Hellooooo from Modern Mouse!

--  W H O  W E  A R E  --

     Matt "Magpie" Ortega (they/it) and Mynt Ortega (she/they) are the Head Mice of Modern Mouse! They decided to take over company founder Eleen's vision in April of 2017 after years of being loyal customers, then employees. Together, they manage staff, accept new artists to the roster, and facilitate all other day-to-day operations. :)

     Modern Mouse offers a fun, stylish and creative collection of high-quality, modern handmade goods made by independent artists and small manufacturers across the USA. We’re drawn to simple items that make us smile and find it pleasing to sprinkle beautiful handmade objects amidst a sea of mass produced product in this day and age.

     We delight in the special, unique nature of handcrafted objects and are inspired by the idea of them being produced one at a time in the tiny studios of individual artists (or more often than not, at dining tables or small desks) in homes perhaps just miles from our own.

Customer Service & FAQ

🕙 Hours & Operations

When are you open? We are open Tuesday through Sunday, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. We are closed on Mondays.

How can I get my items? We offer two convenient ways to shop:

Store Pickup: Collect your order directly from our brick & mortar location.

USPS Shipping: We ship nationwide.

When will my order be processed? We process orders every day that we are open (Tuesday–Sunday).

📦 Returns & Refunds

What is your return policy? We gladly offer refunds for new, unused products in pristine condition. The return window depends on how you received your order:

Shipped via USPS: Within 21 days of the purchase date.

All other methods (Pickup/Local Delivery): Within 14 days of the date the order was bought, picked up, or delivered.

Are there any items that cannot be returned? Yes. For health and safety reasons, the following are Final Sale:

- Bath & Body products, Edibles, Plants, and Cloth Masks.

- Blind Boxes and items marked as Final Sale.

Apparel Note: Clothing must have original tags attached and must only have been tried on (not worn out).

What happens if my package is lost or damaged?

Priority Mail: Includes insurance for up to $50.

First Class: Does not include insurance. We cannot offer refunds for lost First Class packages.

Note: If your order hasn't arrived, please contact us immediately! We’ll do our absolute best to help you track it down.

Location

    We are located within the scenic South Shore Center of Alameda, just a short walk away from the waterfront! For the shortest trek, please park in front of West Marine or Safeway, and use the nearest breezeway to the heart of the Center, where we are located (right next to Great Clips, and right across from FAAS South Shore). We look forward to seeing you soon! :)

     Please note that we are CLOSED on most Federal Holidays (our staff will choose whether or not to be open on some, such as 4th of July). We also close early or stay open later in observance of certain holidays and occasions. For more info, please connect with us through social media or email.
